NDSP investigates attempted stabbing in dorm room

A female student attempted to stab a male student acquaintance in a Siegfried Hall room Sunday night.

The incident occurred around 8:40 p.m., University Spokesman Dennis Brown said. The male student was not injured and Notre Dame Security Police was questioning the female student on Sunday night, he said.

WNDU reported that after a struggle, the male was able to take control of the knife and locked the girl in the room until officers arrived.

Siegfried rector Fr. John Conley deferred comment to University officials and Brown declined further comment.

Students' names have not been released and there is currently no information about potential charges.

Just doing the absolute minimum required by law is the Penn State way... not the Notre Dame way. Who cares if the Clery Act says you don't have to send an email? If some crazy woman is trying to stab someone, send out an email.

Still, it would be nice for the University to acknowledge the incident, and not pretend like it didn't happen...

Since the person is in custody, there is not need for a timely warning since there is no "serious, ongoing threat to campus safety" per the Clery Act that requires the timely warning emails. You can look at their website for what needs an email and what doesn't.
