Notre Dame announced Brady Stiller and Love Osunnuga as valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively, of the Class of 2020, in a press release Wednesday.
Stiller, a native of Madisonville, La., will graduate with a double major in biological sciences and theology. A member of the University Dean’s List and the Phi Beta Kappa honor society, Stiller was also named Outstanding Biological Scientist and holds a 4.0 grade point average.
He recently completed a 180-page senior thesis using the works of Catholic author G.K. Chesterton to explore the concept of vocation.
On campus, Stiller was as a small group leader in the God and the Good Life Fellows Program and a research assistant in associate professor Jason McLachlan's lab. He also interned in the Office of Campus Ministry, served as a community assistant for the Office of Residential Life and volunteered with the Notre Dame chapter of Habitat for Humanity. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, as well as a Mass lector and Eucharistic minister in Dunne Hall.
After graduation, Stiller plans to continue to discern his vocational call to be a Jesuit priest. He has applied to the Master of Nonprofit Administration program in Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business.
Osunnuga — a biological sciences and honors mathematics double major — hails from Granger, Indiana, and also carries a 4.0 grade point average. She is a member of the Glynn Family Honors Program, the Phi Beta Kappa honor society and the University’s Dean’s List. A Stamps Foundation Scholar, she was named the recipient of the College of Science Dean’s Award and the GE Prize for Excellence in Mathematics.
Osunnuga did molecular cell biology and Von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) disease research in Morris Pollard professor and chair Crislyn D’Souza-Schorey’s lab. Her senior thesis explored her work and contribution to the lab’s VHL project.
In her time as an undergraduate, Osunnuga was involved in the Biology Club and the Multicultural Pre-Medical Society. She also completed a Summer Service Learning Program through the Center for Social Concerns and served as a genetics teaching assistant and a chemistry and math tutor.
According to the release, Osunnuga has chosen to attend the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine after being accepted into nine medical schools.
At the Class of 2020 Commencement Ceremony in 2021, Stiller will deliver the valedictory address and Osunnuga will offer the invocation. Should Stiller be unable to speak, Osunnuga will also be prepared to deliver the valedictory address.
