The Knights scored nine points before the Belles could score a third of that; however, the run was less about mistakes on Saint Mary’s end and more from the pure aggression of Calvin’s offense at the net. The Belles were able to fight back and try to keep the Knights in sight with kills from junior middle hitter Caroline Carens and Lewkowski; however, Calvin took advantage of the weak serve receive from Saint Mary’s and ended the set on two service aces from Lina Kasuboski.
The Belles pulled together a strong third set. Saint Mary’s and Calvin traded points consistently in the beginning, yet the Knights were able to go on a 10-3 scoring run that closed at 25-16, winning the match 3-0.
