Robot football game to be held

 This year's Blue and Gold football game weekend will have more than just one football game for some students. The Engineering Department will host its second annual Collegiate Mechatronic Football Competition at Stepan Center on April 23.

With 80 percent of students participating in community service prior to graduating, Saint Mary's was nationally recognized as a member of the 2009 President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll on Feb. 25, a College press release said.

Crossley produced "Eyes on the Prize: America's Civil Rights Year," the critically acclaimed documentary series which earned her an Oscar nomination and major film and journalism awards. For the last eight years, Crossley has served as program manager for the Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard.

Faculty members talk homosexuality

Four Notre Dame faculty members from different fields of study responded to the recent Mobile Party comic controversy and addressed campus attitudes toward homosexuality in a discussion titled "Gay Penguins and ‘No Homo,'" held Tuesday in the Carey Auditorium of the Hesburgh Library.

Mendoza takes top spot in rankings

The Mendoza College of Business was named the top undergraduate business school in the nation for the first time in Bloomberg BusinessWeek's fifth annual rankings, which were released March 4.

Poet Dana Gioia awarded Laetare Medal

Dana Gioia, poet and former chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), will receive the Laetare Medal, during the 2010 Commencement ceremony May 16, the University announced Sunday.

The Campus Life Council (CLC) debated potential recommendations for changes to the du Lac student handbook — including the creation of a student medical amnesty policy and the handling of discipline for first-time alcohol offenses in residence halls — at its meeting Monday.
