Recruiting: RB Mahone commits to Notre Dame

While Cierre Wood showed off the present-day Irish ground game last Saturday, Notre Dame took a big step in securing the future of the running game when Ohio running back Will Mahone committed to Notre Dame, Irish recruiting expert Mike Frank said.

ND Women's Cross Country: Rydberg leads team by example

Junior Jessica Rydberg earned the Big East Cross Country Athlete of the Week distinction after winning the 5K at the National Catholic Championships on Sept. 16. She became the ninth consecutive Notre Dame women's runner to win the meet and, with a time of 17:16, the third-fastest mark in meet history. Rydberg has also contributed in other major ways to the Irish squad this season, including placing second in the season-opening Crusader Invitational at Valparaiso.

A steal from Irish senior defender Michael Knapp in the final seconds looked like it was the winning play the Irish needed in double-overtime until his shot on goal was deflected by a Northwestern defender, leading to a 1-1 tie Wednesday.

ND Women's Tennis: Mathews loses in a tiebreaker

Irish senior co-captain Shannon Mathews forced a third set tie-breaker against South Carolina senior DijanaStojic, but ultimately fell 7-6 (7-3), 3-6, 7-6 (7-2) in the second round of the All-American Qualifier on Tuesday.

Club Sports: Men's Water Polo notches vital 12-6 win over rival

Notre Dame swept the field at the conference qualifiers hosted in Rolfs Aquatics this past weekend. The Irish opened with a 16-6 victory over Dayton, with junior Chris Jennis leading the team in scoring.  This was followed by the team's biggest win in several years, a 12-6 victory over Grand Valley State.

SMC Soccer: Belles win over Trine ends streak

The Belles snapped a two-game skid Tuesday, thanks to a second half offensive surge led by senior Katelyn Tondo-Steele and junior Ashley Morfin. Following a scoreless first half, the two midfielders each scored goals in the first 13 minutes of the second half as Saint Mary's hung on to beat Trine University 2-1.
