Three instances of sexual assault were listed in the Notre Dame Police Department’s crime log for the month of March.
Two rapes were reported on March 3, 2026.
One of the rapes is reported as occurring between Feb. 27 and March 2 at an unspecified campus location.
The other rape is recorded as occurring on Feb. 20 in an on-campus women’s residence hall.
A sexual battery was reported on March 25. The battery is recorded as occurring on the night between Feb. 27 and Feb. 28 at an on-campus residence.
All three incidents were referred to review by the Office of Institutional Equity.
A note attached to both the sexual battery and the rape recorded as occurring on Feb. 20 states the following: “A single report filed with OIE included multiple instances of rape during this time frame; all instances involved the same individuals.”
“The March 5 daily crime log includes two separate reports of rape, both originating with the Office of Institutional Equity. The victim in one of the cases later filed a formal complaint with OIE alleging sexual battery in addition to the rape, all occurring within the same general time frame. This resulted in a third report, which appears on the March 27 crime log as ‘SEXUAL BATTERY — Multiple instances — same individuals involved,’” a University spokesperson said in a statement to The Observer.
No notification was provided to the Notre Dame student body following any of the incidents. The last time an alert was provided to students was Oct. 29, following a reported rape in a bathroom of Jordan Hall of Science.
“In both cases, following a full review of the facts, it was determined that a timely warning was not warranted,” the spokesperson stated.
A University spokesperson previously stated to The Observer in April 2025 that alerts are sent only when “there is an ongoing threat to the University community, and the report is sufficiently timely such that a warning will aid in the prevention of similar crimes.”
