Graduate Student Union plans charity gala

Along with other social events throughout the semester, the Graduate Student Union co-sponsored a welcome back picnic for students and their families and hosted an annual orientation for new students, GSU president Tam Chantem said in an e-mail.

The GSU offered free flu shots, funded by the Graduate School, to graduate students' spouses and children, Chantem said.

The GSU supported graduate student research at its first Graduate Research Symposium.

"This event was a huge success and members of the Notre Dame Graduate Advisory Council mentioned to me that they were amazed by the research that is being conducted by the graduate students here," Chantem said.

The annual charity gala will take place next semester, Chantem said.

The GSU will hold Midwest Regional Conference for the National Association of Graduate and Professional Students (NAGPS) in March, Chantem said.
