University President Fr. John Jenkins named the Rev. Canon Hugh Page as the University’s inaugural vice president for institutional transformation and advisor to the President, according to a press release.
Page will work with University leadership to “create and coordinate an integrated diversity, equity and inclusion strategy centrally and across the various divisions, colleges and schools,” the release said.
The new position was created in response to the Board of Trustees task force report on diversity, equity and inclusion, Jenkins said in the release.
Page, an Episcopal priest, currently serves as vice president and associate provost for institutional transformation and leadership development and as interim faculty director of the Notre Dame Scholars Program. He is a professor of theology and Africana studies and was formerly the dean of the University’s First-Year Studies. From 2013 to 2021, Page served as vice president and associate provost for undergraduate affairs. He was also the director of the African and African American Studies Program.
