The Observer updates print schedule for spring semester

The Observer will print on Tuesdays and Fridays and prioritize digital content

Beginning this semester, The Observer will be reducing its print quantity to twice a week, printing on Tuesdays and Fridays. The change in print quantity comes as part of the paper’s “Observer 60” plan, marking the 60th anniversary of the paper’s founding. The plan seeks to prioritize digital content, deliver stories in the time and place most convenient to readers and produce the highest quality content for the next 60 years.

During this coming year, readers will see a redesign of The Observer’s website, an increase in the paper’s social media presence, more video content, a more frequent newsletter and more. Most importantly, the Editorial Board intends to focus on continuing to uphold the highest journalistic standards, expanding our coverage of campus events and serving as the home of free discussion for all students on campus.

As we make this important shift toward greater digital content, we remain firm in our commitment to having a robust print presence at Notre Dame, Saint Mary’s and Holy Cross. The Observer is proud to be one of only two newspapers serving top-25 universities in the country to print multiple times a week. The Observer is proud to hold this distinction and continues to believe that print is essential in maintaining high journalistic standards, providing a historical record and keeping the tri-campus community informed.
