Rivera-Curtis runs as the sole ticket for Saint Mary’s presidential ballot

The last time a ticket ran unopposed was in 2023

With posters hanging around Saint Mary’s buildings, only one presidential campaign is attempting to collect the student body’s votes — the Rivera-Curtis ticket.

The campaign is headed by junior Daniela Rivera, a math and civil engineering major from Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Rivera has previously served in the Residence Hall Association for two years and has worked in student government as the campus inclusivity chair in 2024 and the director of internal affairs. Junior Mila Curtis, an accounting major from Belleville, Illinois, has also been involved in student government with sustainability and food services in 2024 and as the current director of external affairs. They have designated their campaign motto as “Lead with purpose, serve with heart.”

According to their mission, the campaign is committed “to lead a student government that is open, honest and accountable to the students it serves. We want student government to be a place students understand and feel comfortable engaging with, where they know how to share ideas, raise concerns and see change take shape.”

Their platform is founded on three pillars: transparency and accountability, inclusion and belonging and innovation and campus experience. They hope to make progress in these focus areas by creating initiatives and opportunities such as an apprenticeship program for freshmen students and a hub for updates and comments to the student government association.

The pair also aims to improve student wellbeing on campus with further mental health resources, expanding dining options and resources during semester breaks.

With the official announcement of the campaign on Monday, the ticket is hosting tabling events outside of Noble Family Dining Hall that will be held until Wednesday. Students will begin voting Thursday, and election results will come out Friday.
