At 5:52 p.m. on Wednesday, the University of Notre Dame received reports of a chemical spill in a lab in Stepan Chemistry Hall.
In a statement to The Observer, the University wrote, “No one was exposed or injured. The lab was vented and the spill was quickly cleaned up. We are grateful to the students who acted quickly and reported the spill and to our campus safety partners for their swift response.”
Just before 7 p.m., The Observer saw members of Notre Dame Fire Department dressed in partial turnout gear.
By 7:15 p.m., emergency responders were leaving the site and noted, while speaking to a bystander, that the building was safe to enter.
