Taylor Swift got on stage at the Grammys earlier this year to accept her first award of the night (her 13th Grammy ever) and announced the release of her 11th album, titled “The Tortured Poets Department.” With the rate at which Swift is pumping out music nowadays, everybody was waiting for the newest breakup album, this time from her longest relationship to date. Fans in a frenzy anxiously awaited what this album, whose title teased possibly some of the most interesting lyrics to come from Swift’s pen, would sound like. What many expected to sound much more like “folklore” because of the title actually took everyone by surprise after seeing Post Malone and Florence & The Machine featured on two of the tracks.

“The Little Mermaid” was my favorite princess movie when I was little. I think mainly because of the music. “Part of Your World” and “Under the Sea” are arguably some of the best and most well-known Disney movie songs. As “The Little Mermaid” was soundtrack of my childhood, I was equally nervous and excited when the announcement of the live-action remake was first made. I, however, was traveling over the summer and missed the cinematic premiere and never made it to the movie theaters to watch it. And without a Disney+ subscription, I never got around to it. The incredible team at DPAC, however, brought it to their screen, and I finally got to see six-time Grammy nominee Halle Bailey as my favorite princess.

I knew I would fall in love with the show no matter what (I’ll always be excited for any PJO content, good or bad), but I also found myself analyzing it as a TV show based on quality and writing as well while watching, already knowing the plot well. So how does the show live up to its expectations?
