SPARK graduate opens dance studio downtown

In  September, Velvet Canada, a graduate of Saint Mary's Women's Entrepreneurship Initiative (WEI) fourth SPARK program in South Bend, will open her own dance studio named DanceHipology, WEI director Martha Smith said.

International freshmen experience American culture

Notre Dame's newest freshman class contains 125 international students, representing 70 different countries. Last week, all of these students participated in International Student Orientation, which aimed to help foreign students adjust to an American university.

The student organization formed to address lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) student issues will begin the academic year with a new name and an advisor.

University revises admissions policy

Saint Mary's announces new Dean of Faculty

Vickie Lynne Hess, a native of New York and previous academic dean of the American International College in Massachusetts, has been named Saint Mary's new dean of faculty, the College announced in a press release Aug. 20.

Incoming freshmen exceed expectations

Last fall, many members of the applicant pool for Notre Dame's Class of 2017 boasted the stellar test scores and transcripts up to the Irish standard, so the Office of Undergraduate Admissions needed to go a step beyond academic evaluation when selecting the 2,074 members now enrolled as freshmen.
