Class project supports Center for the Homeless

This semester for her project management class, senior Caroline Corbett and her group will market a partnership between St. Michael's Laundry and the South Bend Center for the Homeless to provide clothes to the impoverished. This project will allow students to have real world experiences and also serve those who are in need.

The Christian Culture Lecture series, held in conjunction with the Department of Humanistic Studies, presents a preeminent figure in the humanities. For Saint Mary's junior Alex del Pilar, the statistics on suicide are a painful reminder of a personal tragedy. As a sophomore in high school, del Pilar lost a brother to suicide, which compelled her to get involved in its prevention.

Two Notre Dame graduates have created a way for college students to show school spirit through text messages. The TextPride app, available for limited release this weekend,allows users to put licensed school images in text messages to liven up anything from gameday updates to smack talk.

Chemists earn ACS honor

The American Chemical Society (ACS) recently named Philip Bays, professor emeritus of chemistry at Saint Mary's, and Anthony Serianni, professor of chemistry and biochemistry at Notre Dame as ACS Fellows. Bays said he is impressed with those previously distinguished as ACS Fellows and is humbled to be among that group.
