Pope-Davis to leave ND

Notre Dame's vice president and associate provost Don Pope-Davis will leave the University in July to serve as provost at DePaul University, according to a Wednesday press release. Pope-Davis was elected to his current position in 2007 and worked closely with undergraduate scholarship and research throughout his tenure, the release stated. He is the second Notre Dame vice president and associate provost to leave the University in the past two years to accept a position as chief academic officer at another Catholic university.

The Office of Campus Ministry cancelled the Notre Dame Encounter (NDE) retreat last semester in an effort to better serve the spiritual needs of students, associate director of undergraduate ministry Tami Schmitz said.

College offers new languages

Beginning this fall, students enrolled in the international economics major will be able to choose five additional languages in their course of study, a change that will better position these students for careers in foreign operations, a press release stated Friday.

First female undergraduates recall fall of 1972

Class of 1976 alumna Diane Bourke didn't know what to expect when her parents dropped her off at Notre Dame in the fall of 1972. Not only had she enrolled at the University sight-unseen, but she would be a member of the first freshman class to include women.
