Water for Elephants movie review

·

Set in the visually stimulating context of a circus traveling by rail, "Water for Elephants" is a sweeping romantic tale that invites audiences into a time of simple entertainment.  Based on the novel of the same name by Sara Gruen, the film is a slow but beautiful testament to the pain of forbidden love.

Fashion by Felicia

·

Every May, as the spring semester draws to a close and the weeks of final papers and exams fall upon us, I am faced with a most revolting dilemma. This dilemma has stalked me every year of my academic pursuits, and once again I find myself in its clutches. I know I am not alone in facing this dilemma of epic proportions. Due to the aforementioned mountain of academic commitments, we all find ourselves inside the library or other chamber of study solitude — Insert your own favorite study space here — typing away while that gorgeous sun calls to us with its blatantly impassioned rays of light.

Sucker Punch movie review

·

"Sucker Punch," Zack Snyder's latest green-screen extravaganza and his first attempt at original material, should have been enjoyable. It has everything that should make a movie appealing to a college-age male. Yet, amazingly, the combination of explosive action, loud music, attractive actresses and colorful graphics completely fails to entertain. Instead, it is a two-hour exercise in tedium and redundancy.

"Skilled or Learned, Join our Army." This first motto of Project Fresh was coined less than a decade ago, when a group of friends got together to learn and teach each other how to break-dance. In just the past three years, the club has grown from 10 members to over 50 active participants, and now refers to themselves as the "PFresh Nation."

Culture Tantrum

·

Well, my dear and fluffy readers (imagine yourselves in Easter Bunny outfits), we are nearing the end. This will be the last installment of "Culture Tantrum." What, you say? No more weekly rants from a manic, obsessive music/film amalgamation of pop culture critique and devotion? Alas, mais oui, as with all good things, it shall end, so that new life might begin (namely mine, somewhere more like Los Angeles than Indiana).

Coachella 2011

While the sun was noticeably absent from South Bend this weekend, in Indio, California it beat down relentlessly on festival-goers taking in the sounds of Coachella. Coachella is notable for its high celebrity attendance, which has made this desert oasis a veritable stomping ground for trendsetters. If a celebrity is seen wearing something at Coachella, it's likely there will be hundreds of hipsters wearing the same thing at festivals for the rest of the summer.

What's your favorite scary movie?

·

To be honest, I'm not much of a fan of horror movies. I have the constitution of a 12-year-old girl and scary movies tend to, well, scare me too much. Having said that, I was excited to see "Scream 4," the most recent installment of the popular horror franchise.
