Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog' comes to campus

·

A freeze ray, the Evil League of Evil and Captain Hammer will be making an appearance on Notre Dame's campus this weekend as the Notre Dame's Student Players present Joss Whedon's Emmy-Award winning online musical sensation "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog" at the Washington Hall Lab Theater.

Paul' movie preview

·

The duo from "Hot Fuzz" and "Shawn of the Dead" team up again for the sci-fi comedy "Paul." Simon Pegg and Nick Frost play the roles of the two geeks on a pilgrimage to the home of alien conspiracy theorists — Area 51. Joining those two on screen are Seth Rogen, Sigourney Weaver, Jason Bateman and SNL cast members Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader.

This one's for the kids

·

Sunshine spreads across Notre Dame campus. Temperatures approach 50 degrees. This can only mean one thing: spring is arriving. And with the arrival of spring comes one of Notre Dame's oldest traditions — ring by spring. Loving and devoted sons of Notre Dame will fill the Grotto, the lakes and the Lyons Arch with the shine of diamonds as they prepare to spend the rest of their lives with their beloved Notre Dame or Saint Mary's sweethearts. For those couples who choose to have children, they will undoubtedly want to share with their kids the magic of the place which brought them together (and no, not just Domerfest). No words will ever adequately describe the aura and magic of Notre Dame, especially on a football Saturday, but for those who want to simultaneously help their children read and foster a love of all things Irish, Hammes Bookstore stocks many options. From coloring books to A-to-Z manuals, there's something for kids of all ages and reading levels. Here are a few standouts.

Super Mash Bros. live at Legends

Super Mash Bros, a Los Angeles-based mash-up group, performed at Legends last Friday night, creating what was aptly described as "musical jungle juice."

Fashion by Felicia

·

There comes a time in every woman's life when she realizes she has become a practical woman of her age. No longer visible are the days of jetting off, gowns at the ready, to conquer an unknown city. Relegated to the past are the exhilarating moments of hiding amongst a celebrity crowd in order to crash a Hollywood premiere of epic proportions (again feel free to pester me for details). Instead papers, presentations and exams exert their concentrated control over our attention, much like that fabulous new shade of OPI nail lacquer so artfully displayed on a shelf at Sephora.

Philip Treacy to adorn royal wedding

·

An Irishman whose childhood dreams swarmed with fantasies of fairytale weddings might just get to be part of one this April. Reports say that London-based hat-designer Philip Treacy will be enlisted by the Royal Family to vamp up the garb of Kate Middleton and her bridal party on the big day.

More "Fighting" than "Irish"

·

If you're not ready for a brawl by the end of "Going Out In Style," there's not much anyone can do for you. Dropkick Murphys' seventh studio album, released just in time for St. Patrick's Day, is chock-full of what the Murphys are known for: drunken vocals, driving Celtic melodies, and bagpipes - lots and lots of bagpipes. Listening to this album is like being steamrolled by a shamrock.

Life in Perspective: Hollywood Train Wrecks

·

We can all identify the people on campus who, by comparison, immediately make us feel better about our own lives. Whether these people are exhibiting offensive party behavior, running to a test a half-hour late or pulling consistent all-nighters, their bad decisions make us put our own messiness in perspective. Celebrity train wrecks exemplify this purpose a thousand times over. With paparazzi constantly on their tails, every shameless aspect of their lives is broadcast to the general public. Through erratic interviews, embarrassment televised worldwide and general idiocy, the following celebrities will make any of your questionable behavior seem about as wild as a four year old's birthday party.

Academy Awards recap

·

The 83rd Annual Academy Awards was a night lacking surprises. "The King's Speech" took home major awards, the Academy continued to rush people off the stage by playing music during their acceptance speeches and Billy Crystal remained the funniest man alive when inside the Kodak Theatre.

Why the 'King' was crowned with Oscar gold

·

There was little surprise at Sunday's Academy Awards when Steven Spielberg announced "The King's Speech" the Best Picture winner, capping off a spectacular award season for the British film starring Colin Firth as the stammering King George VI.

Keying in

·

You probably haven't visited a lot of places on campus. You've been to the Grotto, the Hesburgh Library, South Dining Hall and the Main Building. You've attended a theatrical performance, gone to hip hop night, seen the Keenan Revue (pre-SAO revisions), eaten at all the campus cafés and attended a Mass in the Basilica.
