ND Women's Tennis: Young squad fills big shoes

Despite losing All-American teammates Kristy Frilling and Shannon Mathews, the Irish have lofty aspirations for their young team as the 2012-13 season begins. With six players returning from the 2012 squad who finished the season with a 21-8 record, there is plenty of experienced talent to lead the Irish.

Football: Wood suspended for two games

Irish coach Brian Kelly announced Sunday that senior running back Cierre Wood has been suspended for Notre Dame's first two games due to a violation of team rules. He will miss Saturday's season opener against Navy in Dublin and Notre Dame's home opener against Purdue on Sept. 8.

ND Volleyball: Irish fall to two top-five teams, beat St. Louis

While the Irish showed they could compete on the court this weekend, they also demonstrated they have a long way to go until they can beat the nation's best. Notre Dame fell to top-ranked UCLA and No. 4 Nebraska on Friday and Sunday respectively, while defeating Saint Louis on Saturday.

ND Volleyball: Irish prepared for matchup with nation's best

When the Irish first scheduled a trip to Lincoln, Neb., for a preseason round-robin with UCLA, Saint Louis and Nebraska, they figured they were getting a good chance to open play against three very respectable opponents. Months later, however, the three-game slate has turned into a veritable gauntlet, featuring two of the top four teams in the country with the No. 1 Bruins and the No. 4 Cornhuskers.

Women's Soccer: Irish seek first win in Oklahoma

Notre Dame finds itself winless heading into the second game of the season, a position the Irish have not been in since the last century. The young Irish squad will look to rebound and place its first tally in the win column when it travels to Oklahoma to take on Tulsa on Friday night, returning home to battle East Carolina on Sunday afternoon at Alumni Stadium.

It's not easy to claim a conference title in the Big East, where the competition includes historical cross country powers like Villanova, Providence and Georgetown as well as three-time reigning men's champion Syracuse.

ND Women's Golf: Young talent promises success on links

As the Irish begin their fall season, they will be joined by two of the top high school players in the nation. Notre Dame hauled in two top-10 recruits this year - freshmen Lindsey Weaver and Talia Campbell. Irish coach Susan Holt has high hopes in these two recruits. Weaver will be bringing with her a 59 par-18 score and U.S. Women's Open experience.

ND Women's Soccer: Late goal dooms Irish

They had more shots, more corners and the lion's share of possession. But after a single defensive lapse in the 84th minute, No. 12 Notre Dame found itself behind in the only category that matters, losing 1-0 at Wisconsin on Friday in its season opener.
