Club Sports: Men's water polo goes undefeated in Alumni tourney

In a hard-fought game to start the 2012 Alumni Tournament, the Irish pulled out a 10-9 victory against Saint Louis, who finished 13th at the National Collegiate Club Championships. The Billikens started the game out aggressively and took an early lead against the Irish.  But with timely shooting from junior Chris Jennis and freshman DolffHanke, the Irish pulled ahead. At the end of the contest, great defense provided by sophomore Jack Turek and senior Dan Geisman proved to be the difference.

Griner leads Baylor past Stanford

DENVER - Stanford forward senior Nnemkadi Ogwumike outscored Baylor center junior Brittney Griner 22 to 13, yet finished as the Cardinal's only scorer in double figures as the Lady Bears advanced to the NCAA title game with a 59-47 victory Sunday night.

Forget the brackets, betting and buzzer-beaters. Forget the office pools and unheard-of schools. March Madness certainly has all that and more. But there's another reason why these 67 games, and the college basketball season as a whole, are the best hoops in the world.

SMC Softball: No. 24 Lady Reds sweep Belles in doubleheader

Matched against No. 24 Carthage (Wisc.) on Thursday, Saint Mary's had little room for error. But the Belles (13-7, 0-2 MIAA) faced early deficits in both games of a home doubleheader and could not muster enough offense to avoid back-to-back 8-0 and 12-5 losses to the Lady Reds (12-2).
