Texas three-step

·

Nine years ago and more than 1,000 miles south of Notre Dame, amid awkward icebreakers and handshakes, an unbreakable bond formed between Jessica Schuveiller, Courtney Barg and Melissa Henderson. Nowadays, that bond is best seen in a defensive clearance followed by crisp midfield passing and finished off with a rip into the back of the net.

Youthful Irish learn from small class

·

With a group of 45 athletes plus a five-person staff, women's rowing boasts one of the largest rosters in the Notre Dame athletic department. Of those 45, however, only five will graduate in the spring.

Road to PGA Tour runs rigid

·

The road to the PGA tour can be a drawn-out one. It's not as simple as going into a draft and definitely not as easy as Happy Gilmore made it look when he won one tournament before taking on Hollywood's equivalent of the Masters.

ND Women's Golf: Irish sharpen skills as fall season approaches

·

When the Irish arrived on campus just a few weeks ago, there was much work to be done at practice to prepare for the fall season. After being scattered around the country during the summer months, they needed to shake off the rust and getting back to playing winning golf.

Notre Dame fell from first to third in the final day of the Gopher Invitational in Wayzata, Minn. The Irish entered the closing day at Spring Hill Golf Course with a four-stroke lead, but a 20-over-par round of 308 left them five strokes behind champion and 10th-ranked Arkansas.

Michigan Stadium night game sets attendance mark

·

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Saturday's contest was the first night game in Michigan Stadium's 84-year history. 114,804 fans attended the game, the largest crowd in history to attend a football game, collegiate or professional. This was the fourth time a Notre Dame-Michigan contest set a new NCAA attendance mark; the teams set records in 1993, 1999 and 2003, all at Michigan.

Week Two: Michigan

·

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — It seemed the Irish had won. Then, improbably, all seemed lost. Somehow, Notre Dame regained the lead with merely 30 seconds left – and then, shockingly, stunningly, astonishingly, it was gone again. Through all of that, Irish coach Brian Kelly was left with only one thought after Notre Dame's 35-31 loss at Michigan.

Notre Dame defense willing to take the blame

·

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Following a heart-wrenching 35-31 defeat at the hands of Michigan, many Irish fans have already begun the finger-pointing. While costly turnovers on offense and miscues on special teams contributed to the collapse, much of that pointing has been aimed squarely at the defense.
