Running back Jayden Limar reneges on Irish commitment, flips to Oregon

·

After receiving 19 offers from top schools including Michigan, USC, Miami and Utah, running back Jayden Limar verbally committed to Notre Dame on May 26, later making his third campus visit on June 10. However, the Washington native took four campus visits each to Pac-12 schools Oregon and Washington. With rumors that he might flip late in the cycle, Limar did exactly that. After taking an official visit to Oregon, breaking policy for Notre Dame verbal commits, Limar flipped his commitment from the Irish to the Ducks on National Signing Day.

Cooper Flanagan signs on as next Irish tight end

·

On Wednesday morning, De La Salle High School product and tight end Cooper Flanagan made his longtime commitment to Notre Dame official, putting pen to paper on his National Letter of Intent. Flanagan verbally committed in September 2021. Since then, however, he picked up offers from Alabama, Miami and LSU. By Rivals, Flanagan is the 12th-ranked prospect in Notre Dame’s fourth-ranked 2023 recruiting class.

‘Possession receiver’ Rico Flores Jr. signs, could make immediate impact

·

Perhaps no position has more riding on it for the Irish in their 2023 recruiting class than wide receiver. The unit lacked both depth and true game-breaking talent in 2022, and the numbers backed it up. Notre Dame’s top three wide receivers combined for 855 yards and six touchdowns. Junior tight end Michael Mayer tallied 805 yards and nine scores all on his own. Even acknowledging Mayer’s first-round talent and that he’s one of the most dominant tight ends in the sport, that type of production from wide receivers simply isn’t up to Notre Dame’s standards.

Joe Otting signs on with Hiestand and the Irish

·

On Wednesday morning, Topeka, Kansas product Joe Otting made his June commitment to Notre Dame official, signing a National Letter of Intent. Otting verbally committed earlier this summer, choosing the Irish over heavy interest from Kansas State and Iowa, among others. Per Rivals, Otting ranks as the 17th-best prospect in Notre Dame’s fourth-ranked 2023 recruiting class.

Kenny Minchey flip adds stardom to quarterback room

·

It seemed Notre Dame was down and out in regards to recruiting a top-flight quarterback for the 2023 class. An expected commitment by third-ranked quarterback Dante Moore reneged in July as Moore changed course and committed to Oregon, then flipped to UCLA. Since Notre Dame had put all their faith in Moore, other top recruits — such as Kenny Minchey — committed elsewhere. Nevertheless, the Irish recruiting staff was slowly working on Minchey behind the scenes after the loss of Moore. There was never an indication that they were going to be able to secure his flip from the University of Pittsburgh to Notre Dame until Minchey decided to give the Irish another chance.

Jeremiyah Love commits, brings explosive running to the Irish

·

·

Last spring, Notre Dame received a major boost to the future outlook of its talented, but thin wide receiver group when Braylon James committed to play for the Irish. James, a receiver from Round Rock, Texas, officially signed on Wednesday. He will have a chance to make a big impact on Notre Dame’s aerial attack early in his career. Kyle Kelly, Notre Dame recruiting analyst for Rivals, spoke about James’ expected role for next season.

By Rivals, Jagusah ranks as the seventh-best prospect in Notre Dame’s fourth-ranked 2023 recruiting class.

Christian Gray signs, becomes highest ranked Irish cornerback recruit since 2015

·

The Irish continue to add skill to the class of 2023 with the addition of cornerback Christian Gray. The St. Louis native made his verbal commitment to the Irish back in July after a longstanding interest in the school. Other programs such as LSU, Ohio State, Alabama and USC were on the radar, but cornerbacks coach Mike Mickens and Marcus Freeman were able to snag the 6-foot cornerback.

Irish defensive line signee Devan Houstan looks to make an instant impact

·

Devan Houstan grew up in Ontario, Canada, before deciding to attend boarding school at St. James School in Hagerstown, Maryland in order to pursue his football career. That decision paid off, as Houstan signed a National Letter of Intent with Notre Dame on Wednesday. Rivals considers Houstan a four-star prospect and ranked him as the No. 20 defensive tackle nationally as well as the No. 5 player in Maryland. Giving him a 5.8 player rating, Rivals ranks Houstan as a potential All-American and day two NFL draft selection. He verbally committed to Notre Dame in May after receiving offers from over 20 Power Five programs and will join a strong Irish defensive line group led by defensive line coach Al Washington. Houstan is the lone defensive tackle signee for the Irish. However, he joins highly touted defensive ends Brenan Vernon, Boubacar Traore and Armel Mukam.
