Club Sports: Men's Water Polo notches vital 12-6 win over rival

Notre Dame swept the field at the conference qualifiers hosted in Rolfs Aquatics this past weekend. The Irish opened with a 16-6 victory over Dayton, with junior Chris Jennis leading the team in scoring.  This was followed by the team's biggest win in several years, a 12-6 victory over Grand Valley State.

SMC Soccer: Belles win over Trine ends streak

The Belles snapped a two-game skid Tuesday, thanks to a second half offensive surge led by senior Katelyn Tondo-Steele and junior Ashley Morfin. Following a scoreless first half, the two midfielders each scored goals in the first 13 minutes of the second half as Saint Mary's hung on to beat Trine University 2-1.

ND Cross Country: Irish host Invitational through cold

With a storm of ranked teams converging in South Bend for the Notre Dame Invitational, the Irish had to deal with talented opponents — and the weather. Facing temperatures in the 40s and winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour, the Notre Dame women placed fifth while the men finished 11th.

SMC Golf: Belles take second

The Belles turned in their best round of golf in conference play this season Saturday at the MIAA Jamboree at Kalamazoo College, but fell short of the top prize by one stroke to conference leader Hope College.

Hockey: ND wins 4-0 in exhibition

Both action and inaction led to a busy Sunday night for the top-ranked Irish. Notre Dame earned a 4-0 victory over Western Ontario in its only exhibition game of the season, and announced the date of the first game in the nearly-finished Compton Family Ice Arena. Meanwhile, the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) released a statement that clarifies Notre Dame's conference future, though the Irish have not made a move yet.

Irish dominate Purdue on ground

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — In its 38-10 win over Purdue, Notre Dame totaled 551 yards of offense, the most since gaining 592 against Washington State on Oct. 31, 2009. Of the 551 yards, 185 came in the first quarter.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — For the first time this season, Notre Dame did not commit any turnovers, allowing the Irish to roll to a 38-10 win over Purdue.

Cierre Wood runs roughshod over Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Irish sophomore running back Cierre Wood did not receive his first carry until the 4:15 mark in the first quarter in Saturday's 38-10 victory over Purdue. He took the handoff from sophomore quarterback Tommy Rees and scampered 19 yards for the first down.
