Club Sports: Men's volleyball wins Irish Invitational

The Irish hosted a tournament this weekend at Rockne Memorial Gymnasium. The field consisted of seven teams from four universities, with two teams from Grand Valley State, one each from Purdue and Ball State, and three teams from Notre Dame, who split its main squad into two teams and fielded an alumni squad for the third. The teams were split into two pools, the first of which had Grand Valley State's A squad, Notre Dame Alumni, Notre Dame Green and Purdue while the second pool had Grand Valley State's B squad, Notre Dame Navy and Ball State.

Men's Swimming: Making a splash

The Irish closed out the first half of their season with a strong finish at the Hawkeye Invitational, where Notre Dame finished second behind host Iowa. The three-day event saw the Irish rack up 822 points, as they were aided by strong performances from a number of competitors.

ND Women's Swimming: Irish compete in Nationals

After a three-week layoff, Notre Dame traveled to Columbus, Ohio, last weekend to compete in the U.S Nationals. With 228 points, the Irish finished third out of 16 collegiate teams in the competition behind perennial powers California (556) and USC (495). The diving team competed at a separate event, earning a pair of top-10 finishes at the Hawkeye Invitational at Iowa.

Henderson points continue to equal Notre Dame perfection

CARY, N.C — Notre Dame improved to 43-0-2 all time when junior forward Melissa Henderson is credited with a goal or assist. Henderson took a clearance from senior goaltender Nikki Weiss, used a nifty move to get by her defender, and dribbled to the end line before crossing the ball for freshman forward Adriana Leon.

ND Women's Basketball: Grand victory

Though Irish coach Muffet McGraw called Notre Dame's 72-51 win over Purdue Sunday an "ugly present," the win that fell on her birthday was nonetheless a present for McGraw and her young team. The win came just four days after Notre Dame's 76-65 loss to No. 2/3 Baylor Wednesday, and marked the 1,000th game in program history.

Stellar freshmen play complements senior class

CARY, N.C. — The class of 2011 has reached the College Cup in each of its four years at Notre Dame. Not until this year, however, did the seniors reach the pinnacle — and they did so with only rookies tallying goals in the team's final three games of the season.

SMC Swimming: Invitational wraps up for Belles

The Belles wrapped up the Calvin College Winter Invitational on Saturday, finishing in ninth place behind a competitive field of swimmers. The three-day event featured eight programs, each bringing an A, B and C team, with the exception of Saint Mary's and Valparaiso.

Hockey: Team splits pair with Miami

Notre Dame earned its first win against Miami (Ohio) since 2007 Friday night with a 5-4 victory, but fell to the RedHawks 5-2 in the second game of the weekend series Saturday.

Notre Dame to take on Stanford for national championship

CARY, N.C. – In the 2008 College Cup semifinal, Notre Dame defeated Stanford 1-0 on the strength of a goal from then-freshman midfielder Courtney Barg, only to fall to North Carolina in the title game. On Friday, the fourth-seeded Irish returned to Cary and advanced out of the semifinals in nearly identical fashion on a late goal from freshman midfielder Mandy Laddish.

Hockey: On the road again

Fresh off a difficult trip to North Dakota, where the young No. 12 Irish lost Friday and fought back to salvage a tie Saturday, Notre Dame will continue its "Murderer's Row" schedule with a weekend series against No. 6 Miami (Ohio) in Oxford.

Irish advance to national championship

CARY, N.C. – One goal proved to be the difference, as freshman midfielder Mandy Laddish found the back of the net in the 83rd minute to give Notre Dame a 1-0 victory over Ohio State in the semifinals of the NCAA Championships. Friday's victory sends Notre Dame to the title game for the first time since 2008.
