Men's Basketball: Versatility gives Irish new edge

Mike Brey's tenure as basketball coach at Notre Dame, by the numbers, has been impressive. The Irish are 211-113 under Brey, have finished in the top four in the Big East five times and the NCAA Tournament six times. The major criticism of his 10 years with Notre Dame has been lack of performance in the post-season, a flaw with a particular root: teams based around a single player.

ND Women's Golf: Irish end fall slate with strong showing

Notre Dame ended its fall season with a strong comeback in the final round of the Alamo Invitational at the Briggs Ranch Golf Club in San Antonio, Tex., as they moved up from fifth to third place with a three-round total of 882 (+18). No. 18 Notre Dame had sat in fifth after both the first and second rounds of play, which began on Sunday. Texas Christian University took the tournament title with an 877, Texas A&M finished second at 880 and No. 17 Colorado took fourth.

Notre Dame is ready to jumpstart the season tonight when it hosts Michigan Tech in an exhibition game at the Purcell Pavilion. After one of the program's most successful seasons last year, the No. 12 Irish are ready to get the first game jitters out and put on their new uniforms.

SMC Volleyball: Belles fall to Hope in tournament

The Belles' season ended Tuesday night as they were eliminated in the first round of the MIAA Championship tournament against top-seeded Hope College. Saint Mary's (5-21, 3-14 MIAA) went into the match ranked eighth in the nine-team conference after a season where its victories were few and far-between. The Flying Dutch (24-4, 16-1 MIAA) are currently No. 6 in the Division III national rankings and were the regular season MIAA champions alongside Calvin.

Following Wednesday's death of Notre Dame junior Declan Sullivan, a Fisher resident, RecSports contacted Fisher with an offer to postpone its first-round playoff game against No. 1 seed Dillon.

Women's Interhall: Pangborn comes from behind to take Farley in overtime

No. 4 Pangborn showed just how badly it wanted to reach Notre Dame Stadium in the first round of playoffs against No. 5 Farley on Sunday. After Pangborn fell behind early, the Phoxes (4-1) recovered to force a tie at the end of regulation and scored a touchdown in the overtime period to win the game 25-19.

After commencing the 2010 Alamo Invitational with a first-round score of 298 on Sunday and a fifth-place standing, the Irish have cut nine strokes off their second-round team score but remain in fifth place. Monday's compiled score of 289 puts Notre Dame at 587 overall as it heads into the today's third and final round.

Irish sideline filled with injuries; Allen done for the year

While junior quarterback Dayne Crist's injury garnered most of the headlines after Saturday's 28-27 loss to Tulsa, other injuries to Irish players will play a key role in how Notre Dame finishes out the final three games of the season, and several impact players also may not suit up for the Irish for the remainder of the season. Irish coach Brian Kelly addressed some of Notre Dame's injury issues in his Sunday press conference.

ND Volleyball: Conference returns to Irish hands

The Irish were spooked in Sunday's fourth set against Connecticut as the Huskies tried to even up the match, but Notre Dame held strong and came back to celebrate Halloween with a 3-1 (25-21, 23-25, 25-16, 27-25) win after freshman setter Sammie Brown made an ace on match point.

ND Men's Soccer: Senior Day culminates in upset of No. 21 Georgetown

Before Notre Dame's Sunday night clash in chilly weather, the Irish honored the seven seniors on their roster in a Senior Night ceremony. In the second half, one of the seniors — forward Steven Perry — returned the favor with two goals in the span of two minutes to lead the Irish to a 3-0 win over the Hoyas.
