Holy Week Masses to be held in Purcell Pavilion

This year’s Triduum services during Holy Week will be held in the Purcell Pavilion at the Joyce Center instead of the Basilica, director of Campus Ministry Fr. Pete McCormick said in an email to the student body Sunday.

McCormick said the services — celebrating the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday, the Lord’s Passion on Good Friday and the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday — are being held in the Purcell Pavilion in order to safely accommodate as many people as possible.

Students, faculty and staff are able to request tickets for the services until 5 p.m. on Wednesday. All tickets are single seat and assigned. All three of the Triduum services will also be live streamed

Easter Sunday Masses will only be celebrated in the Basilica and residence halls. In the email, McCormick encouraged students to attend Mass in their residence halls on Easter. Campus community members who wish to attend Easter Mass in the Basilica must request a seat reservation between 8 a.m. Monday and noon Wednesday.

The Easter Masses in the Basilica will be offered at 8 a.m., 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m., and a Mass in Spanish will be offered at 4 p.m.

The email said it is not guaranteed that every seat request for Easter masses will be accommodated.

“While we can’t guarantee that a seat will be available for every request given the reduced capacity of the Basilica and the volume of requests, please know that every effort will be made to accommodate as many requests as possible,” the email said.
