Keep Calm and Style On
On a quiet Sunday afternoon with the muted hue of an overcast sky spilling in through my dorm room window, I sat with my roommate watching TV when I heard a knock on the door.
Notre Dame Twitter accounts that must be made
Much like it did in the Soviet Union, privacy has become a thing of the past at the University of Notre Dame. You can run but you cannot hide from ND Makeouts, the Twitter account that shares photos of Notre Dame and Saint Mary's students engaged in some serious public displays of affection, henceforth known as "PDA." Students now lock lips at the risk of their makeouts being shared with all of campus (or at least the 2,000-plus followers of ND Makeouts).
Spring Break Fashion
When the weekend rolls around this Friday, we will all be free of academic strife and released into the wild for one week of stress-free existence. What's the best way to celebrate this newfound freedom? Dress like it, of course.
MC Strangelove
I am 7 years old, and my older brother Johnno and I are having a very un-PC time listening to Puff Daddy and the Family's "No Way Out."Johnno has somehow convinced my mother to buy us this album. It's the edited version, but my brother helps me fill in the blanks. I am still at a loss for how my brother was ever introduced to the genre. Whoever this Nike-sporting peer was, I often wonder if I would be more inclined to kiss him on the forehead or kick him in the groin. For these reasons, I have never sought him out.
Not your mom's fashion columnist:
The Oscars were this Sunday. If you're not in the loop, it's a night where people stand around on a red piece of felt and accept awards for pretending to be people they're not - a time-honored American pastime. While doing this, they wear clothes. Here's a blunt interpretation of this year's Oscar fashions:
Seth MacFarlane hosts Oscars
On a night when the most famous actors and actresses gathered to acknowledge each other for a year's worth of phenomenal work, a star who spends most of his time behind the camera perhaps got the most attention and the most heat out of the 85th Academy Awards.
Hate-watching the Oscars
To hate-watch is to willingly watch a broadcast that you know you won't enjoy, solely so you know exactly what to complain about.
Keenan Revue: Better Than Boxed Wine
Where could Buddy the Elf, Shakespeare, Spiderman, Waldo and a sumo wrestler all be spotted in the same room this weekend? Nowhere else but the Keenan Revue.
Passion Pit
Passion Pit has peppered the soundtrack of my college career ever since I first heard their hit "Sleepyhead" at the end of my freshman year. Now the friends I made as a freshman while listening to the band's 2009 full-length debut "Manners" have become fellow members of a post-graduation bridal party, and Passion Pit's infectious falsetto hooks and beats will forever evoke happy memories of dorm parties in 133 Duncan Hall.
