Identity Crisis
Having cut their teeth at several venues in the South Bend area, the members of the multi-purpose band Identity Crisis are poised to reemerge onto the Notre Dame music scene this Saturday. Drawing from their experiences at Club Fever and Ugly Mugs last semester, Nick Morrissey (bass), Matt Stolze (rhythm guitar), Steve Atkinson (lead guitar), Danny McGiffin (vocals) and Drew Davis (drums) look to bring their diverse set list to the B1 Block Party. Morrissey explains that Identity Crisis "try to play different genres," including "covers from new pop songs as well as old recognizable songs, all with a bar rock feel." Look for Identity Crisis to cater to all types of musical preferences when they open for Mayor Hawthorne and Guster this weekend.
Nick Gunty and the Powers Five
A trio of Acousticafe regulars form the core of Nick Gunty and the Powers Five. Featuring dual frontmen in Nick Gunty (guitar, piano, drums) and Brian Powers (guitar), as well as keyboardist Mike Matheson, the group boasts plenty of live performance experience at various campus shows. However, this will be the first official performance for the newly formed group. Local products Andrew Carmer and Christian Rougeau round out the lineup on the bass and violin respectively. The inaugural show will be highlighted by several original pieces influenced by the likes of Andrew Bird, Sufjan Stevens, Paul Simon and Dave Matthews Band,according to Gunty. "We're excited to play, and we've been looking forward to this for a long time," he says.
